Part-time Residents
With many tourists, temporary visitors, and part time residents, it is important to have a few tips to ensure that your time in Santa Fe is spent exploring and enjoying our wonderful region of the Southwest.
Cell phone use is not permitted while driving in the City of Santa Fe unless using a hands free device.
If you are staying in a short term rental property, noise or other disturbances outside the unit is prohibited after 10:00 p.m. which includes decks, portals, porches, balconies and patios.
Santa Feans appreciate any efforts to eliminate unsightly trash while encouraging visitors to recycle their waste at many local business and events. Here’s more information on how to handle trash disposal and recycling while staying in Santa Fe including a special services for those with disabilities.
Visitors will find that Santa Fe is both bike- and pedestrian-friendly and strongly urge visitors to use caution when driving to ensure their ongoing protection. Visitors using bikes or walking around Santa Fe should use designated bike routes/trails and crosswalks for their safety. There is an extensive series of hiking and biking trails found throughout the region for recreation.
The Santa Fe Trails Transit System provides clean and effective bus service throughout the community offered at reasonable fares:

There are a many regulations regarding Parking in the City of Santa Fe that you should become familiar and you may notice some residents using a cash key to pay at parking meters.
The City provides Directions to the Santa Fe Airport which is located southwest of the City and offers parking at a cost of $3 per day.
Staying here with Pets? Check out the Frank S. Ortiz Dog Park located at 160 Camino de las Crucitas where your dog can walk, run and roam off leash. Visitors are asked to be help keep the park clean by picking up after pets. In many areas throughout the City, green plastic bags and holders are provided FREE for the removal of pet feces to help keep Santa Fe healthy and beautiful. Animals off their property must be physically restrained on a leash no longer than eight (8) feet in length and under the immediate effective physical control of the person having custody. Except for service animals, animals are banned from the Plaza (link to: AnimalSvcsHighlights) during a number of major events.
The City of Santa Fe maintains a number of local recreation centers, pools, and sport complexes including the Genoveva Chavez Community Center – a large, family-oriented facility housing an ice rink, aquatic center, fitness equipment and gymnasium.
Three libraries offering various hours and locations serve the community of Santa Fe where visitors can access FREE internet services, a wide selection of books, publications, programs and other informational materials. |
