Santa Fe Lifestyles

Santa Fe is beginning to commemorate 400 years as a continuous establishment settled in 1610 by the Spanish thus making Santa Fe the Oldest Capital City in the United States.  With its history, diverse cultural heritage, climate, arts, and unique architecture, Santa Fe is a truly a rare gem in Southwest living.

Santa Fe’s Plaza is known for its architecture, history, shopping and is host to a number of internationally-acclaimed markets.  In 2007, Canyon Road was named one of ten Great Streets in America by the American Planning Association.  The “Top of Canyon Road” has also been recently feature in the Sunset Magazine using a new catch phrase “TOCA” with some amusement by locals.   The latest city development has been the recent opening of the Railyard District surrounding the rails for the Santa Fe Southern Railway and New Mexico Railrunner Express  along with a new permanent home for Santa Fe’s popular Farmers Market.

With many tourists, temporary visitors, and part time residents, it is important to have a few tips to ensure that your time in Santa Fe is spent exploring and enjoying our wonderful region of the Southwest.  Cell phone use is not permitted while driving in the City of Santa Fe unless using a hands free device and residents appreciate any efforts to eliminate unsightly trash while encouraging visitors to recycle their waste at many local business and events.  Visitors will find that Santa Fe is both bike- and pedestrian-friendly and strongly urge visitors to use caution when driving to ensure their ongoing protection.  Visitors using bikes or walking around Santa Fe should use designated bike routes/trails and crosswalks for their safety.

Santa Fe hosts a wide range of local community events, internationally-acclaimed markets, opera shows, art and garden tours, rodeos, music venues, theatrical productions, charitable functions, book signings, museums, and outdoor activities.  In an effort to help our part time guests, visitors, and residents, you will find an ongoing list of various local Events for your consideration.
